Our History

Amvrosia was founded in 1991, as a business  extension of EDESMA company,  a delicatessen cold cuts producer, extending in new categories, such as ready-made salads and meals. In 1994, Amvrosia acquired its own state-of-the-art factory in the Industrial area of Thessaloniki. In 1998, the first expansion of the company’s buildings was finished, while in 2008 its current form was completed. The industrial facilities and production machinery are constantly renewed aiming greater flexibility, automation, increased productivity, and of course, excellent product quality. Today, Amvrosia holds a leading position in the market of ready-made salads and ready to eat meals. Always ecologically conscious and a supporter of tradition, it never ceases to evolve its production processes and products, utilizing the knowledge gained from the experience, as well as the new ideas developed and implemented by its members. The company’s main target is to offer consumers a broad range of appetizing and safe products, that will complement everyday meals, as if they were just cooked by a traditional housewife.

 

Recognizing the difficulty of replacing the housewife and homemade meals, the company, from its early steps, oriented itself towards traditional, delicious, and authentic recipes, choosing the time-honored methods of preparation.

The wealth of products, offered by Amvrosia, represents the culmination of experience surrounding the taste preferences of consumers who prefer and recognize quality products.




Quality

Our company believes that the quality of our products depends greatly on the selection of raw materials. 

 

Therefore, we are very careful when selecting our suppliers and thoroughly inspect the products for taste and hygiene. We continuously develop product tests on every delivery to examine the raw materials quality, including their appearance, taste, and microbiological and chemical condition. Our quality control procedures, raw materials and final products handling, production processes are all certified by the ISO 22000 (quality management certificate) and HACCP (food safety manual) systems. 

 

We are also certified by the International Food Standard for compliance with the requirements needed for exports to Western European countries, as well as by BRC for compliance with UK standards. By utilizing a traceability system, Amvrosia is able to completely monitor and control the quality of its products during all stages of production.

 

People

Amvrosia’s  success and recognition relies on its human resources! The company’s main concern is maintaining and developing a safe, modern and stable work environment. Experienced as well as young scientists work passionately to design new equipment, more effective production methods, smart solutions for product safety, and new product lines that are tested and perfected through multiple trials before being released for consumption.

Environmental Consciousness

All of Amvrosia’s productive processes are fully aligned with the principles of absolute respect for the environment.

The company’s environmental policy is analyzed in the following components:

  • The maintenance of a modern biological treatment plant for sewage sanitation (before it is channeled into the central biological treatment plant of the Industrial Area).
  • The use of natural gas for reducing emissions of exhaust gases and modern air purifiers for proper combustion without loss.
  • A photovoltaic park with a capacity of 100KW on the factory roof for the production of ecological electricity that is channeled into the Public Power Corporation (PPC).
  • The use of light pipes for solar lighting in all production areas, instead of conventional artificial lighting to save energy.
  • The use of capacitors on machines to reduce electricity consumption.
  • The possession of the “Green Stamp” emblem as an indication of the recycling of production materials.
